The bond between the educators and all children in Kwelena shines through their interactions and sense of belonging.
Family plays an integral part in our room. We are big on sensory and messy play and helping support our young ones develop independence.
Babies love sensory play, especially if it is also messy – and we do too! The children have incredible fun getting their hands dirty in a variety of hands-on learning experiences provided by the educators. It is an opportunity to fully immerse in the wonderful world of colour and texture.
Regular family input is integral to the Kwelena Room. We love to hear what the children are enjoying at home either through family updates on Storypark or from daily interactions at drop off and pick up.
Likewise, milestones and achievements are shared with families each day in conversations with families and as learning stories on Storypark.
We create a sense of belonging, each child celebrated with key information about them and family photos found throughout the room.
The children in the Kwelena room are supported to develop independence and self-help skills from an early age, where educators encourage children to feed, drink and practice good hygiene themselves.
Another priority in Kwelena Room is learning about nutritious foods and healthy eating through baking opportunities lead by educators and also through recipes shared by families.
