Well-trained, qualified staff and a carefully curated education program breeds a culture which brings out the best in each child.
Led by supportive leadership, all staff at Fremantle Early Learning Centre are encouraged to fully engage in our proactive training and professional development program. Through regular staff meetings, ongoing PD opportunities and staff networking events we strive to develop a positive team culture of lifelong learning and growth. We see our program of support to be an integral part of our culture where we are instilling our value of “belonging”. We are proud of our strong connection to each other, our FELC family.
Imperative to the team culture is our respectful relationships that have been built on trust. We nurture all our relationships; with families, with the children and with each other.
One of the challenges presented to children in early learning is the need to transition to more advanced learning environments. At FELC the children transition through four rooms, Kwelena (babies), Weitj (1-2 years), Koomal (2-3 years) and Yongka (3+ years). We recognise the need for smooth transitions as children graduate into older rooms and have a proven process to ensure children feel safe and have a sense of belonging in their new environment.
Transition to school is also a key consideration for us. The children in Yongka room enjoy a curriculum similar to kindergarten. We reach out to the local schools to learn how we can best support and prepare children for the transition.
We hold annual end of year parties for each room to celebrate all that they are and all that they have achieved for the year. And for Yongka learners we hold a graduation party as a special farewell
